Whalers' Cabin, Point Lobos, California

Variable-Tone Carbon Pigments on Archival Matte Paper

TECHNICAL
INFORMATION:

Whalers' Cabin was printed with a variable-tone inkset, here used to achieve a split-tone with warm tones in the light from the cabin and cold tones on the moon-lit tree.

Although I have been a traditional darkroom printer for years, technology has now reached the point where, in my view, the latest digital printing processes have actually surpassed the traditional silver print in most respects. As such, while I still will print special-order, selenium-toned silver prints, I recommend and use this new digital process for most of my display prints.
